WELLBEING & INCLUSION
Wellbeing at
TNS
At TNS, wellbeing is fundamental to learning and personal growth. We believe that students thrive when they feel safe and empowered to take ownership of their learning and their lives. Our approach to wellbeing is embedded across the school experience and reflects our commitment to developing caring, balanced, reflective and principled individuals in alignment with the IB Learner Profile.
Wellbeing at TNS extends beyond support services. It is reflected in our relationships, school environment, policies and daily interactions. Through a culture of care, inclusion and respect, we strive to ensure that every member of our community is known, heard and supported.
Students are encouraged to develop self-awareness, resilience, confidence, and a sense of purpose. Through age-appropriate guidance, social-emotional learning, leadership opportunities, service experiences, and meaningful relationships with trusted adults, students learn to navigate challenges, make informed decisions, and contribute positively to their communities.
Our open-door culture ensures that students have access to dedicated counselors, teachers, and school leaders who provide guidance and support when needed. We aim to foster an environment where seeking help is viewed as a strength and where every student feels comfortable reaching out for support.
Student voice is an essential component of the TNS experience. Students are encouraged to actively shape their learning experiences and contribute to the wider school community through leadership opportunities, student councils, ambassador programmes, service initiatives, societies, publications, events, and collaborative projects.
Through structured systems and mentorship, students are empowered to transform ideas into meaningful action while developing responsibility and confidence.
TNS is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where diversity is valued and every student has equitable opportunities to succeed. We recognise and celebrate the unique strengths, identities, experiences, and perspectives that each individual brings to our community.
Through learning support services, inclusive practices, and personalised pathways where appropriate, we work to ensure that all students feel respected, connected, and able to participate fully in school life.
The wellbeing of our students is underpinned by a strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection. We strive to maintain a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment where students can learn and grow with confidence.
Through clear policies, staff training, reporting procedures, and a shared culture of responsibility, we work proactively to promote student welfare and protect the rights and dignity of every child.
We recognise that wellbeing is strengthened through meaningful partnerships between school and home. Parents and caregivers play a vital role in supporting student growth and development, and we value ongoing collaboration, communication, and shared responsibility.
Through regular engagement opportunities, feedback mechanisms, workshops, and community events, we work together to create a supportive network that promotes the wellbeing of every learner.
A positive school culture depends on the wellbeing of the adults who support it. TNS is committed to fostering a professional environment where staff feel valued, respected, and supported in their personal and professional growth.
Confidential counselling services, professional learning opportunities, collaborative practices, and a culture of care contribute to a workplace that promotes balance, belonging, and sustained effectiveness.
As a learning community, we regularly reflect on and strengthen our approaches to wellbeing through feedback, dialogue, and evidence-informed practice. By listening to students, families, and staff, we continue to evolve our programmes and systems to meet the changing needs of our community.
At TNS, wellbeing is not a standalone programme; it is a shared commitment that shapes how we learn, lead, connect, and grow together.
Inclusion
The Life Skills Programme is a specialized learning support pathway offered by the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Department at both TNS Beaconhouse DHA and TNS Beaconhouse Gulberg. It is designed for students whose learning needs are best supported through an individualized, functional curriculum rather than the academic rigour of the International Baccalaureate (IB) or the American High School Diploma (AHSD) programmes.
The programme provides students with meaningful learning experiences that promote independence, participation, and personal growth while ensuring active involvement in the wider school community. Teaching and learning are tailored to each student’s individual strengths, needs, and developmental goals through personalized learning plans.
The curriculum focuses on the development of essential functional skills in Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Art, and Physical Education (PE), enabling students to build practical knowledge and transferable skills for everyday life. In addition to these areas, students are encouraged to participate in classroom activities, school events, and community experiences that foster communication, social interaction, confidence, and wellbeing.
The Life Skills Programme operates as a school-based alternative learning pathway, separate from the IB and American High School Diploma programmes. Students enrolled in the programme work towards individualized learning outcomes and receive a school-based Functional Skills qualification, recognizing their progress and achievements within the programme.
