The Personal Project showcase was held on the 22nd of February, 2017 at TNS DHA. This event was an opportunity for our Year 10 students to present their project(s) to a live audience of parents, teachers and students alike. Clad in formals, students assembled early in the multi-purpose hall, in order to set up their various project stations. When the audience started streaming in, the students were eager to engage in meaningful discourse about their project process, and show the penultimate goal of their project(s). On display was evidence of a year's worth of hard work, including research, planning, documentation and collaboration with supervisors, subject-area experts, and peers.

The event started with Mr. Omer Zahid, the MYP Personal Project coordinator addressing the audience. At a TED-style presentation session, each student came on stage and spoke about their inspiration for the project, challenges faced and experience gained in attaining the goal. Students also contextualized the four stages which form the crux of MYP projects: Investigating, Planning, Taking Action and Reflecting. Mr. Clive Barnes, the Head of School, brought the round of presentations to a close; he congratulated the students and expressed his pride in the creative, innovative projects that had been put on display.

Parents were then invited to visit individual students at their stations and get a closer perspective on each project. On display were an array of projects, ranging from tangible ones such as original books authored by the students themselves, highlighting social issues or serving as chronicles of a bygone era, a documentary/personal narrative of a student experiencing cerebral palsy, and even a personal take on Japanese mythology and folklore, illustrated by one of our students with original flair. The event was a booming success, with media coverage and visible accolades from all those gathered. It served as a much-needed pat of affirmation for our students in their development as IB learners.
